2008 - CMDA and IFSB (Islamic Financial Services Board) jointly conducted the inaugural seminar on Islamic Capital Market in the Maldives.


2007- Introduction of a second Board to the Securities Trading Floor and listing the first private sector company on the exchange.


2007- Applications were opened for the private sector to form a Stock Exchange and a securities depository.


2006 -CMDA Formulated a Corporate Governance framework for the listed companies.


2006- Maldives Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) issued shares to the public for the first time and was listed.


2006 Maldives Securities Depository became a member of Asia Pacific Central Securities Depository Group (ACG).


2006 -Clearing and settlement functions of the Securities Depository were introduced.


2006 - A new system for trading in securities was introduced in the Securities Trading Floor. 2006- Individuals were issued licenses as Dealer's representatives (brokers).


2006 - Market intermediaries (Dealing Companies) were licensed.


2006 - Capital Market and Corporate Governance Institute (CMCGI) was established.


2006 - Capital Market Development Authority (CMDA) was established.


2005 - Amendments were brought to the Companies Act (Law No: 10/96).


2005 - Securities quotes were made available via Dhiraagu SMS.


2005 - The Maldives Securities Depository was computerized.


2005 - Maldives Securities Act (Law No: 2/2006) was passed by the Parliament.


2005 - The Maldives officially participated in the South Asian Securities Regulator's Forum.


2005 - Securities Trading Floor became a member of the South Asian Federation of Exchanges (SAFE).


2004 - The Capital Market Development Section of MMA was converted to a division of the MMA.


2004 - Maldives Stock Exchange Index (MASIX ) was introduced.


2004 - Securities were included on the official list for the first time, and rules for quotation of securities was introduced.


2004 - The Maldives Securities Depository (MSD) was converted to scrip less system.


2003 - The first video documentary on the capital market was released to the public.


2003 - State Trading Organisation sold shares to the public for the second time.


2002 - Market price of companies that had issued shares to the public (STO, MTCC & BML) was established for the first time.


2002 - The Securities Trading Floor was established and the stock exchange website was inaugurated.


2001 - STO was registered as a public limited company and issued shares to the public for the first time.


2001 - The policy on the development of the capital market was announced by the Government.


2001 - The first Broker Training programme was conducted by the CMDS.


2001 - The first seminar on capital markets captioned ''Inaugural Seminar on Capital Markets'' was held.


2001 - A Capital Market Advisory Committee was established by the President.


1999 - The Capital Market Development Section ( CMDS) was established within the Maldives Monetary Authority.


1996 - The Companies Act (Law No: 10/96) was passed.


1993 - First Primary issue to the public by Bank of Maldives.


1981- Establishment of Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) and the Bank of Maldives.


1980 - Establishment of the MTCC and its first primary share issue to the public.
