Market awareness programs are conducted by the Investor Education and Market Awareness Section of the Capital Market Development Authority (CMDA).
The purpose of Investor Education Programs are to sensitize the Maldivian population on the objectives of developing a fully fledge stock exchange, the nature and the type of tradable instruments, market intermediaries such as brokers, investing in the market and the role of the regulators. CMDA considers the participation and awareness of all stakeholders, Government, business community, financial community, the press and the media as crucial for the development of a capital market in the Maldives.
To date, total of over 11,940 people have participated in the awareness programs conducted by CMDA. The diagrams below depict a segment analysis of people who participated in the investor education programs from the year 2000 to 2008 (April).

The main objectives of the Investor Education and Awareness Programmes are as follows:
1. To give information to the public on the role of CMDA as a regulator and it's role in protecting investors
2. To sensitize and promote importance of saving and investing
3. To sensitize and promote the advantages of going public
4. To assist and support government and private sector companies wishing to raise finance from the capital market
5. To give information on new capital market products and services
6. To give information on new investment opportunities in the area of capital market so as to encourage institutional building
7. To Promote and develop an efficient capital market
To achieve the above objectives the following services are provided by the CMDA:
1. Conducting seminars and workshops to the market professionals and general public
2. Delivering presentations on selected topics relating to capital market.
3. Facilitate capacity building through Capital Market and Corporate Governance Institute (CMCGI)
4. Public brochures and booklets on the securities market and capital market
5. Provide education material on securities market and capital market
6. Conduct market awareness programs targeted to schools (essay competition and quiz competition)
7. Facilitate school presentations, visitations and trips to outer islands
