Ms. Aishath Zahira was appointed as the chairperson of the CMDA board effective from 10th January 2021. She held the position of the Deputy Governor of Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA), and left MMA in July 2020 after a tenure spanning 31 years in various capacities within MMA after completion of two consecutive six-year terms as the Deputy Governor.

Mr. Mohamed Ahmed is an accomplished finance and public-sector professional with more than four decades of experience in banking, economic development, public finance, corporate governance and institutional leadership. He holds a Master of Business Administration from Durham University Business School, United Kingdom, and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the American University of Beirut.

Ms. Nadhiya was appointed as a member representing the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) on the CMDA board effective from 25th November 2020. She is currently the Senior Executive Director of Banking Operations Area at MMA. She has over 26 years of experience in MMA and has served in various capacities within the Bank.

Mr. Haleem was appointed as a member representing the private sector on the CMDA board in February 2021 representing the private sector. He is currently the Head of Finance of Villa Air Pvt Ltd. He has over 13 years of experience in the public and private sector.

Mr. Fizan was appointed as a member representing the private sector on the CMDA board in March 2023. He is currently the Managing Partner of Fizan & Partners LLP. He has over 20 years of experience in the public and private sector. 

Ms. Mariyam Shahida is currently serving as Director General of the Corporate Affairs Department at the Ministry of Finance. She holds an MBA from the Australian Institute of Business, and is currently pursuing her PhD in Management at Universidad Alder’s Gate.

Ms. Mariyam Shamma Ismail was appointed as a board member of CMDA in March 2025 pursuant to her appointment as the Registrar of Companies (ROC). Prior to her appointment as the ROC, she held the position of Consumer Ombudsperson. She also served as a Legal Consultant at the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade.

She had earlier filled the post of Director of Legal and Policy Affairs at the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives and previously served as the Registrar of Supreme Court of the Maldives.
