Capital Market Development Consultation Workshop - Support for Private Sector Development in South Asia. New

This workshop is designed to review and formally validate the key findings and recommendations from the comprehensive capital market assessment led by David John White on behalf of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and in collaboration with the CMDA.
Workshop Objectives
The primary goal of this workshop is to engage key stakeholders in a final review to ensure the accuracy, robustness, and feasibility of the proposed reforms. Specifically, the workshop aims to:
- Validate Key Findings: Review and confirm the assessment's in-depth evaluation of the Maldivian capital market's current status, size, structure, key players (like the Maldives Stock Exchange and Maldives Securities Depository), and financial products.
- Validate Challenges & Constraints: Confirm the identified obstacles in market infrastructure, market access, regulatory compliance, and other supply and demand-side constraints.
- Secure Buy-in on Recommendations: Discuss, refine, and secure stakeholder consensus on the proposed reforms to improve regulatory frameworks, infrastructure, and institutional capacity.
- Finalize Strategy: Validate the suggested strategies for market expansion, attracting more companies, increasing liquidity, and enhancing investor education and protection.
